    GPJ is currently looking for a Director, Software Development who will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Design, scope and estimate development tasks
    • Lead and mentor developers and analysts
    • Supervise software engineers including: hiring, determining workload and delegating and prioritizing assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance
    • Effectively direct the day-to-day tasks and activities to meet project deliverables and schedules
    • Provide clear and concise communications in both verbal and written forms
    • Accurately track and report project tasks, activities, documentation, and schedules
    • Accurately assess the risks of the development projects and provide appropriate mitigation
    • Support and guide the development of team members on professional and technical levels
    • Maintain communications with others in the selection and implementation of technology solutions for client facing technology
    • Assist VP of IT and Executive Management in setting strategic direction for corporate technologies
    • Foster company success through a professional appearance, courteous behavior to clients and all GPJ employees, and by demonstrating a positive attitude
    • Review team member products and deliverables to ensure quality
    • Develop elements of the overall software solutions
    • Coordinate assignment of development resources with Program Managers
    • Any other related work as and where required by the business
    • Ability to travel on occasion to support our technology offsite and to other corporate offices


    To perform this position successfully, the candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Experience in concepts of Object Oriented Design and Development
    • Experience managing the development of global, transactional web applications
    • Experience in maturing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) based on IEEE or similar standards including:
    • Requirements Analysis, Change Control, Architecture Design, Development, Testing and Deployment
    • Experience implementing Configuration Management disciplines and tools
    • Experience in defining and implementing SDLC controls to conform to Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and related security requirements
    • Experience in managing fast-paced development for a services organization
    • Possess at least 2 years current experience developing web applications utilizing Oracle Application Server and JDeveloper
    • Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle specifically) and JDBC/SQL
    • Posses at least 2 years experience developing or managing Oracle PL/SQL development
    • Possess at least 4 years current experience developing with J2EE technologies JSP/Servlet
    • Possess at least 7 years hands-on experience of software design and development
    • Working knowledge of bug tracking tools such as BugZilla, ClearCase or similar tools
    • Experience using Microsoft Project or other industry Project Management Tools
    • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline
    • Positive attitude, flexibility to do additional work at short notice when required by the business, and the ability to work effectively with a development team
    • A good listener/communicator, able to pick up on business problem and translate into concise functional and nonfunctional requirements and thence to system definitions
    • Experience developing with Jakarta Struts Framework a plus
    • Thorough working knowledge of the application development lifecycle processes, methodologies and their direct implementation to software products
    • Strong business skills to inform technical direction
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work with end users to meet deadlines
    • Ability to communicate technical material in a non-technical manner to be understood by the end user community
    • Great attention to detail
    • Ability to identify opportunities for efficiency where technology can assist users in being more productive in their work
    • Knowledge of network operating systems and basic networking principles
    • Knowledge of security principles and protocols
    • Knowledge of the technology product management process
